Homecoming Scotland 2009. I, Robert Burns.
As one of the first major events of Homecoming Scotland 2009, a production of 'I Robert Burns' was staged at Ayr's Gaiety Theatre over Burns' weekend and Air Image Design was commissioned to take cast and performance photographs.
This was the first major stage production on the life of Scotland’s bard for 50 years and marks the 250th anniversary of the poet’s birth.
Starring in the title role was Scottish actor Jamie Michie, well known from TV appearances in Rebus, Holby City, The Bill and others.
The show covered Burns’ life from birth, through his days at Tarbolton and Irvine, his tryst with Highland Mary, the printing of the Kilmarnock edition, his recognition in Edinburgh and his meeting with Clarinda; his return to marry Jean Armour and his eventual death in Dumfries.
